Nestling on the banks of beautiful Lake Windermere, the small Victorian town of Bowness is the tourist capital of the English Lake District. In the heart of this attractive town, the hotel’s great location makes it a superb base for visiting the many attractions across the whole of Cumbria, or for exploring the great walks and spectacular natural beauty of the Lake District. The hotel was originally built in 1851 as a private gentleman's residence; it first became a guest house in 1973. The current owners acquired the house in the winter of 2003 and immediately set about a quarter-of-a-million-pound refurbishment.
