Description Set on the green opposite the cathedral’s west front, this hotel exudes an old, intriguing atmosphere with its centuries-old spiral stone staircase and quaint little passages. Just yards away from the ancient market place and Bishop’s Palace, the hotel is well positioned for discovering Somerset’s history and beauty spots. The atmosphere of the hotel is unrivalled, and its original features and characteristics have been retained where possible. Nine bedrooms, 2 of which have four-poster beds, are all en suite. The hotel’s history can be traced back to the feudal barons, and still preserved with the cathedral records are details of its rebuilding in 1473.
