| Overall - "Because of lack of staff we were unable to eat in the restaurant as there were no tables available. Lighting in the bathroom was broken and did not get repaired during our stay. Staff could not have been more helpful and really put themselves out. The young man serving in the restaurant was excellent. Though the room was very small, the position of the hotel was ideal for our purposes in a delightful village setting. Parking was inadequate at the hotel though we were lucky in being able to park in the street outside. This would not have been possible during the week." | |
| Good points - "Food was excellent. Staff were very friendly, helpful and obliging." | |
| Bad points - "Hotel generally run down and in need of a complete re-decoration." | |

| Overall - "Tip for potential hotel guests:do not allow yourself to be booked into Room 2. There is currently something living in the (rather charming thatched) roof, which is nocturnal; you will not get any sleep. On top of this, the bathroom is in serious need of refurbishment, having a leaky toilet and cracked tiles. The bed is also extremely uncomfortable (Argos's cheapest - we've experienced this make of bed before). We changed rooms for the second night, thankfully. We were moved to Room 3 which was vastly superior. I cannot vouch for the other rooms in the hotel. Some of the staff are extremely pleasant, in particular the man with the 1950s quiff. He was very helpful in arranging our room change. Unfortunately, the woman who checked us in and out was not at all attentive." | |
| Good points - "This is a charming thatched old English Hotel, in a wonderful Somerset village. It has an excellent restaurant, which has been featured in Egon Ronay's guide. It is mile away from a main line railway to Paddington Station in London." | |
| Bad points - "Poorly decorated, unclean, cracked tiles, leaky toilet, small room, uncomfortable bed, greasy breakfast." | |

| Maintenance - Adequate Cleanliness - Poor Staff - Adequate Overall - Adequate | |
