Description The Orchard is a detached cottage built of Portland stone with a thatched roof. It dates from the early 1700s (Grade 2 listed) and is comfortably furnished throughout. The ground floor consists of entrance hall and a very spacious sitting room with beams and large inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove; logs are provided. Roses climb around the windows and there is a flat screen TV, video and DVD player plus selection of DVDs and wide range of books for adults and children. Doors lead onto the garden via a vine covered terrace, ideal for eating or simply sitting with a cool drink on hot summer days. Off the hall is the bathroom with bath and shower. The dining room (also opening onto terrace), leads to the well equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, dish washer and washing machine. Stable type doors open onto the garden. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, 1 with king size double bed, 1 twin beds and 1 bunk beds. All bedrooms overlook the garden with uninterrupted views of countryside and all have a hand basin. Cot and highchair are provided, also an additional pullout bed. All bed linen is provided, but not towels. The beautiful 1 acre garden has mature trees, flower borders and millstream. An exceptional variety of birds have been seen, including woodpeckers and tree creepers. There are plums, apples and raspberries in season. Badger, deer and hedgehogs have all been seen at various times. There is table tennis in the stone barn, but there is only a dirt floor and best shoes should not be worn! Garden furniture is provided. The front door opens to the village street. Loders consists mainly of attractive C18 stone cottages, many still thatched, and is very quiet. There is an C18 manor house and beautiful church. The Loders Arms pub has a garden and open fire in winter. It provides good food with excellent beer from the local brewery in Bridport, and is within easy walking distance. There are other good pubs in neighbouring villages and a range of excellent places to eat. The Orchard is situated in a Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty only 2 miles inland from the Jurrasic coast. Maps and brochures are provided for a large range of walks and places to visit.
