Description The Granary is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, nestled in the middle of the historic arts & crafts village of Fortingall, at the foot of Scotlands most beautiful Glen, Glen Lyon. It is part of a steading conversion, refurbished with both luxury and comfort in mind and lies within the grounds of the award-winning Fortingall Hotel. Its combed ceilings, comfortable leather sofas and a well equipped kitchen area, complete with breakfast bar, combines both stylish and cosy living. The two bedrooms, one King double and the other Twin, offer flexible accommodation for both families and friends alike and provides a restful retreat after an active day out. In addition to the courtyard, the Granary benefits from a peaceful communal garden to the rear, with furniture, from which to enjoy it's picturesque surroundings. The Granary is situated for easy reach of all that the area has to offer. Reputed to be the birth place of Pontius Pilate, this area is steeped in history from ancient standing stones to the Bronze Age Crannog, through to Victorian castles and the Arts and Crafts village of Fortingall itself. Next to the steading, within the village churchyard, stands the ancient Fortingall Yew, claimed to be the oldest known tree in Europe. The area also offers an unlimited range of activities from walking, fishing, shooting and golf to cycling, watersports, off-roading, highland safaris and much more. On Loch Tay, just a short drive away, you can learn to sail, water ski, kayak and canoe or a 15minute drive to Aberfeldy, gives you one of the UKs best white water rafting venues for that bigger thrill. Some of Perthshires best castles are close to Fortingall, Castle Menzies, Scone Palace and Blair Castle are all worth a visit. The tranquility of the area also accommodates the more relaxing and romantic breaks to just enjoy the magnificent countryside and its unique wildlife, whilst taking a stroll in the beautiful Glen Lyon. To finish the perfect day, guests may enjoy a relaxing drink by the fire in the cosy Ewe Bar of the Fortingall Hotel.
