Description
We are an award winning guest house having a gold award from Visit Britain and a Bib award from a famous french touring guide. We also were the only guest house in Eastbourne to be selected for the WhichHotel Guide. We have been runners-up or winners in the Eastbourne in Bloom for many years.
The house is typical Edwardian Eastbourne in architecture and inside we have embraced the new and the old in an eclectic style. We are keen on art so the house has many original paintings, antiques and oriental rugs. The house is run by Sue and William Carter but fortunately we also have dedicated support from three lovely ladies, who are also very knowledgeable on the area.
We have six guest bedrooms, of which one is a single, they are all with bath or shower rooms or both. The are all comfortably furnished and include flat screens, multichannels, hospitality trays, crisp linen sheets that are professionally cleaned and white fluffy towels. Dressing gowns, bath sheets, fresh milk and DVDs are available at no extra charge. We do serve evening meals or snacks at £15 or £8 respectively at 6pm for early theatre birds.
Breakfast is scrummy with many cereals, fresh fruit salad, nuts and seeds, dried fruit, fresh fruit bowl, full English breakfast with locally sourced ingredients or fish dish. Eggs however you want them. Seed toast, wholemeal toast or white toast with home-made marmalades. This is served in the charming dining room over looking the smart well kept terrace garden.
We love Eastbourne and walk on the front everyday, we never tire of her beauty. We are a few seconds from the seafront and sometimes it is blustery and the sea is lashing at the shore, you fight to get along wrapping your coat firmly around and bowing your head from the wind, with Beachy Head almost belittled by the weather. Other days we meander down the path past the pine trees to a beautiful becalmed sea, blue and clear, that invitingly twinkles in the sun, with Beachy Head sloping up majestically in the distance. Remember we do have long summers in the south plus a safe bathing record. There are lots of little cafes on the promenade. Walk along the prom to the little café under Holywell sit on the terrace overlooking the sea and cliffs…….
There is plenty to do in Eastbourne. We have a fairly new marina at Sovereign Harbour where there are a few shops, restaurants and many boats. The Bandstand on the seafront plays military band music and some tribute pop group concerts. We have three theatres and a new art centre at a short walk from the house. There are plenty of restaurants from all nations nearby and we keep a list for your information. There are plenty of pubs and clubs (the latter are near the pier end of town).
Come and join us.
